The Best Free Games Apps for the Apple iPad 2

Everyone has different tastes when it comes to playing games on the ipad, some prefer games with stunning graphics but little playability and some prefer the addictive games, hopefully some of the following free games will meet with your approval. At least they are free so if you download them and find they are useless, simply delete them and it hasn’t cost you anything. There are thousands of free ipad games apps out there but some are really poor, some of the following are free but you can then purchase extra content if you like them. These were all free when I wrote this but may not be now.

Labyrinth 2 HD Lite – I find this game so addictive, I find it hard to put the ipad down sometimes. Ok, it’s a demo but you get 15 mazes to try out tilting your ipad to move your marble across the screen avoiding obstacles along the way. This is one of the few games that I have tried that I actually paid the extra just to play some more mazes. There are many similar games but this one is probably the best.

10 Pin Shuffle Lite – Yes, it combines ten-pin bowling and shuffleboard. This has three game modes and my favourite one is 10 Pin Poker, it adds a card game to the mix. If you get a spare or a strike, you’re given one or two cards and at the end of the tenth frame, whoever has the best hand wins.

Tap Tap Radiation – In my house, the Tap Tap rhythm action games are very popular for all ages but this version for the iPad is a much more exciting game. On the iPhone, you have 3 or 4 hit zones that are always positioned at the foot of the screen in the same positions but with this ipad version, the hit zones meander around the screen, sometimes snapping into new formations to keep your mind working.

New York 3D Rollercoaster Rush HD – There are 40 tracks on offer here and six of them are free. It’s a pretty simple arcade game, you tilt your ipad to control the coasters speed trying to make sure that it stays on the track but also taking risks to try and ensure that the riders have a great time. This is another game that I’m bought for the extra content.

Air Hockey Gold – We’ve all played air hockey at the funfair and here’s an app for the ipad that can either be played solo with many skill levels or even play 2 players on the same ipad. You even have the option to play 2 player but on 2 different ipads. This is another of those highly addictive though simple games and it’s also compatible with the iOs Game Centre.

Lane Splitter – This is a fast paced action arcade game where your reflexes will mean the difference between either surviving or crashing in a spectacular fashion. You ride your bike at top speeds through ever changing traffic, looking out for careless drivers and avoiding blind spots. The game is easy to learn but ages to actually master. Basically you tilt the ipad to steer left or right and hang on for dear life.

Angry Birds Rio – The original angry birds are kidnapped and taken to Rio de Janeiro where they escape their captors and set out to save their friends, Blu and Jewel. The free version features 6 exciting levels and new achievements. If you havent played this game before, why not try out the original angry birds too.

Flick Football – This is the most addictive flick Soccer Game around. Swipe your finger to curve the ball round the wall, and experience the many game modes for this app. Another simple but addictive game.

Tap Zoo – Create and care for your very own zoo with more than 50 new animals to care for. Build and customise your very own zoo by choosing which animals to buy and which to breed. The app is loaded with features including unlocking new animals and zoo attractions. Build stores, restaurants and attractions to encourage visitors to your zoo to earn you zoo money.

Harbour Master HD – You control the course of boats coming into the harbor to offload their freight, but be careful that none of them collide with one another.  The game is free, but there are additional maps you can choose to purchase, although the free initial free map is enough to keep you busy for ages as you try to master the game.
